Dr. Hazel Murray is a cyber security researcher with research interests in password security, authentication, quantum cryptography and local differential privacy. She is currently a cybersecurity lecturer as part of the CyberSkills project at Munster Technological University. Hazel leads the Cyber Safety research group whose goal is to improve the cyber-safety of vulnerable members of society through the development of tailored and accessible security guidance. She also leads the Digital resilience for SMEs research group which aims to improve the security resilience of Irish SMEs to protect their business, social and global interests and responsibilities. Hazel established and leads the QCloud project which enables free, scalable access to quantum computing to Irish researchers. Hazel completed her PhD in Mathematics at Maynooth University under an Irish Research Council GOI Postgraduate Scholarship. She has worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Chicago working on practical implementations of local differential privacy. She previously worked as a cryptography lecturer at Dublin City University. Her undergraduate degree is in Mathematics Education from Maynooth University.
