Dr. Jane O’Hanlon

Former Head of Education, Poetry Ireland

Jane O’Hanlon is the former head of education with Poetry Ireland, coordinating its national suite of education and outreach programmes. She is President of IBBY Ireland (International Board on Books for Young People www.ibbyireland.org) , and was recently elected onto the Executive Committee of IBBY International (www.ibby.org) founded in 1953 to promote mutual cultural understanding and based in Basel. She is a member the Programme Boards of Dublin City University Institute of Education’s Write to Read Programme and University of Galway’s Children’s Studies Programme. She is a member of the DES STEM Implementation Group the convenor and Chair of the STEAM Advisory Group. She is and a member of the Board of RADE (Recovery through Art and Drama Education) and Festival in a Van (FIAV). She holds MA’s in Women’s Studies (WERRC, UCD) and Children’s Literature (St Patrick’s College, DCU) and her Doctoral research (DCU St Patrick’s College, 2017) was on the unique character of arts learning within the formal education system. She also holds diplomas in Adult Education (MU) and Counselling (TCD) and was Fulbright Ireland Scholar for 2023/2024.
